AutoDet

Autodetecting Biological Contaminants project is developing an optical measurement device to determine the level of surface cleanliness. The device is to be used in offices, food industry and healthcare sector. The end users of the device can be either the owner of the space, facility manager, cleaner or even ordinary office worker.

Breast Cancer Therapy

We have developed a novel tissue culture matrix, which is able to preserve the original breast tumor cellular identity and thus serve well as a predictive preclinical model for drug response studies. The costs from one failed drug in clinical trials can go up to several billions of euros, which has made clinical trials enormously expensive and inefficient from the patient’s perspective.

Fractuscan

Fractuscan aims to develop and commercialize a scanning system for rock joints to measure the roughness of rock joint surfaces. The digitized roughness is used to carry out advanced mine stability analysis allow for steeper mine walls and reduce disturbances in the production process.

Lightopsy

Developing a novel probe for improved biopsies.

Biopsies represent the gold standard in cancer diagnostics. However, biopsies often fail due to sampling of non-representative tissue. This leads to delays in diagnosis and treatment, and additional costs to the medical system. Lightopsy improves the biopsies.

Maculaser develops novel medical technology for treatment of a common eye disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The innovation allows clinicians to perform previously infeasible laser therapy and help millions of people to retain their vision.

Minima Processor

Minima Processor develops sub-threshold voltage processors based on technology developed by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and the universities of Aalto and Turku. Minima's techniques can be used to optimize processor voltage and frequency operating points dynamically. Minima provides a middleware stack with its hardware that provides compatibility with dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) regimes.
